Course Description

Students will be taught the medical billing process including various payer rules for Medicare, Medicaid, Workmans Compensation and commercial carriers. Proper use of CPT and HCPCS modifiers, the Correct Coding Initiative, LCD and NCD medical necessity guidelines and other billing requirements will be reviewed in detail. Students will also learn how to properly complete CMS-1500 professional billing form, UB-04 billing form for outpatient hospital; appropriate APC assignments and ABN requirements and incident to and supervision rules for non-physician providers.
