Xact Medical Billing for Outpatient and Professional Services
June 4th – August 20th Tuesdays 6PM-9PM (12 weeks)
Students will be taught the medical billing process including various payer guidelines for Medicare, Medicaid, Workman’s Compensation and various commercial carriers. Proper use of CPT and HCPCS modifiers, the Correct Coding Initiative bundling edits, medical necessity criteria utilizing CMS Local and National Coverage Determinations, and other billing requirements will be reviewed in detail. Students will also learn how to properly complete the CMS-1500 professional billing form, the UB-04 facility billing form for outpatient hospital services, appropriate assignment of Ambulatory Payment Grouper, Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) requirements, as well as ‘incident to’ and supervision guidelines for non-physician providers. This class prepares students to sit for National billing certification exams including CPB, CMBS, RMB, CMIS, and CMRS.
